I met REGENT Seaglider co-founder & CEO Billy Thalheimer and co-founder & CTO Mike Klinker two years ago at Revolution.Aero an Air Mobility conference in Dublin. What they invented is brilliant. Just two years later they have $9 Billion in orders. So, it's not a plane or an eVTOL, Seagliders are certified and regulated as maritime vessels through the Coast Guard. The all electric, 8 engine, 12 passenger, 2 pilot seaglider lifts out of the water with hydrofoils then lifts into flight traveling 30-60 feet above the water surface utilizing a phenomenon called "ground effect" to maintain its low altitude while achieving 180 MPH with range of 180 miles. As they only take off and land on water they can use an abundant supply of docking facilities to load passengers as 40% of the worlds population lives in coastal areas. They have global commitments across six continents and established themselves as a new defense contractor with the U.S. Marines. They just broke ground on a 225,000 square foot facility to manufacture in North Kingston, RI and forecast 300-750 jobs over the next 10 years. Nice work guys! Then again, what else would you expect from two MIT grads and former Boeing engineers! They just created a completely new mode of transportation which also requires it's own unique ground support for customer's charging at Seaglider Base Ports. eVERTIPORTS is glad to help support your infrastructure needs and I can't wait to travel on one! Watch how this works.
